LCAO – Aging Organizations Brace for Federal Budget Battles

Soon after the Nov. 6 election, the focus in Washington will shift dramatically to the federal budget. In a “lame duck” session, Congress will consider possible across-the-board cuts, tax issues, and an “extenders” package of expiring health provisions. NCOA chairs the Leadership Council of Aging Organizations (LCAO), which has calculated the cuts’ impact on vulnerable seniors and adopted federal budget principles to guide advocacy efforts on what could be historic reductions in funding for senior programs.
