From our colleagues at CCoA:

The California Commission on Aging learned on Friday that the small APS budget increase supported by the CCoA, California Elder Justice Coalition and the County Welfare Directors Association of CA will not be included in the Senate’s version of state budget. The APS increase will be in the Assemblybudget, however, which means the issue will be decided THIS FRIDAY, May 30, 2014, when the Budget Conference Committee meets.

Right now our advocacy efforts are needed more than ever.  Please place a call to your state senator’s office and let her/him know how important itis to have this $1.4 million APS increase approved.  Let them know that the APS increase will be presented in the Conference Committee next week, and that if they are appointed to the Conference Committee, urge them to support its inclusion in the final budget.  If they are not a ConferenceCommittee member, please urge them to speak with colleagues who are.

You can look up your Senator’s local or Capitol office phone number at

Time is critical – we only have a few more days to make our voices heard!
