NCOA: Update on appropriations in Congress

From our colleagues at NCOA:

The FY 2015 appropriations process is now underway. Both the House and the Senate appropriations committees have provided allocations to their respective subcommittees. The Senate spending level for the Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education (LHHSE) subcommittee (which includes Older Americans Act and other senior programs) is $156.8 billion, the same as FY14. The House LHHSE level is $155.8 billion, $1 billion lower than FY14. The Senate expects to mark up its version of the LHHSE bill by mid-June; the House has not set a date yet. In this environment, it could be a challenge to protect current funding levels, let alone secure much-needed increases for OAA programs and other social services.
